A casual, comfortable sort of stick, time and use had polished it black. An ordinary stick with a crook, the German walked with it in the country and when exercising Suzy, flicked leaves with it, used it to gesture and to point things out. And I notice that you brought it with you.' The stick he mentioned was one that Koenig had used ever since Garrison first knew him. Finally Garrison turned his lenses on the captain. Garrison felt his blood cool in a moment, forcing an involuntary shiver down his spine. Left to their own devices, Garrison and Koenig prepared for the night's business and half an hour later, clad in open-necked, lightweight evening suits, made their way from the motor-yacht to the seafront. Lovi berthed La Ligurienne at the end of a jutting concrete quay, and with Garrison's permission he and the four members of his crew went ashore. Savona better.'įor once Garrison was astonished. He was born in these parts.' He put a hand to his mouth and bellowed, 'Hey, Marcello' 'Now please, what's the name of the place?' 'I'll decide that,' Garrison answered, his patience wearing thin. 'When we find Terri,' Garrison began, 'it may well be that-' Marcello scratched his chin, shrugged, said, 'Oh, she called Arenzano.' '-We also find trouble,' Koenig finished it for him. Well, since first you told me about your dream I have been thinking bad thoughts. Thomas used to say that my prime function was to think bad thoughts before others thought them. Sometimes it lets me down, but not often. 'Richard,' Koenig patted his hand in an almost fatherly manner, 'did Thomas never explain why he employed me? I have this knack, you see - no, not an ESP facility that I'm aware of, just a knack - of sensing trouble before it strikes. When the captain went back to his duties and they were alone again, Garrison asked Koenig to sit beside him and said, 'Willy, there's something I still have to tell you.' Garrison turned his head to stare directly at the other, his lenses silver now in the twilight on the sea. It was money well spent and I can't say that about many things we do these days.'Good,' said Garrison. In fact, everyone, including the captain, was just so nice and friendly. ![]() If you need anything, Tania, the Purser (she's from Portugal) will take care of all your needs. It was a totally amazing experience and one we'd do a couple of times a year if it weren't for the long flights. We just loved the River Beatrice and the crew. I think there was a charge for the soap for the machines, but I don't know for sure. I think there was a chair and TV in the room if you wanted to wait, or if your laundry was about done. The day I was pressing my jacket there were loads of laundry in the machines. It should be no problem to use the self-laundry. Sounds like the laundry will not be a big problem We used the self-laundry on Azamara and had no problems. Our friends who are traveling with us were wondering about the dry cleaning. I won't pay for laundry service if there isn't a laundry room (or complementary service!!) have learned to wash and hang in our room along the way - if laundry isn't available. We often do "bits and bobs" when we travel. We found the laundry was returned promptly - and nicely folded. It was really nice to send my laundry out to be done - don't have that perk at home!!! :D Although the River Queen does have laundry facilities, we were able to access the complementary laundry service as we were past passengers. We used the laundry service when we were on the River Queen 2 years ago. Can Uniworld provide this service for us? Either laundry or dry cleaning? We think there may be a very limited laundry on the ship. We are questioning the laundry situation. ![]() ![]() We are heading out this Friday and looking forward to our Danube Christmas Market River Cruise. I know the original posts are older, but thought I would give this a try, hoping for a response.
